Crawler Excavator: Pre-Shipment Inspection for a Brazilian Import Order
The machine was confirmed consistent with the purchase order and specification. The single minor defect was within the acceptable AQL limit, and the client received a photographic report plus functional-test video before approving shipment — removing the risk of a surprise at the Brazilian port.
Project background
A Brazilian importer ordered a crawler excavator from a Chinese supplier and, before payment release and shipment, asked us to verify that the machine matched the purchase order and was ready for export.
Because the unit price is high and any discrepancy found at the destination port would trigger a long, costly dispute, the client wanted an independent check on quantity, workmanship and documentation before the goods left the factory.
What we did
We performed a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) at the manufacturer's site under an AQL-based sampling plan, covering:
- Quantity verification against the purchase order and shipment quantity;
- Workmanship inspection for paint surface, welds and general finish;
- Style, colour and documentation check against the approved specification;
- Field test and measurement of key dimensions, with a functional test recorded on video;
- Shipping mark and packaging review.
The inspection identified one minor paint-surface scratch. All findings were documented with photographs, and the functional test footage was attached to the report for the client to review directly.
